Irony

Irony signifies the opposite of an event that is expected to happen one way and nothing occurs. For example, I laughed at someone for coming in late to class, and then I come in late the next day.

"Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson Described the life of Richard Cory, Richard Cory seemed to be happy on the outside but no one really saw how he really felt on the inside. So as everyone worked hard to set goals and be as "happy" as Richard Cory was busy "putting a bullet through his head". The poem signifies he was happy by stating he glittered when he walked "he was a gentlemen from sole to crown, clean favored and imperially slim" to me this stated that he took care of himself. The last line in this poem was very shocking to me because the way "the people" described him was as if he was very convenient The facts in this poem are coming from people who most likely worked and saw Richard Cory everyday. They were envies of Richard Cory because of the way he carried himself.

The Irony of "Lamb Of The Slaughter"By Ronald Dahl is that Mrs. Patrick Maloney the wife of a policer officer killed her husband with a fatal blow to the head, when his colleges came to check out why Mr. Maloney was dead she persuaded them to eat the same lamb she hit him over the head with.
